Our Medical Assistance program acts as a safety net for Appalachian residents who are working hard to just get by, but have nothing leftover in case of an emergency illness, or cannot cover the cost of eyeglasses, necessary medication, eye exams, or dentures that insurance companies sometimes refuse.  In the past year, AHA has covered over $25,000 in prescription assistance, eye exams and eyeglasses for the elderly.
